New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) Angelique Kidjo will return to Carnegie Hall on March 3rd for the 21st annual Tibet House benefit concert. Kidjo, who performed a sold-out concert at Carnegie Hall last November, will join curator
Philip Glass and an all-star cast of guests including Wayne Coyne, Michael Stipe, The Roots, Patti Smith and others to commemorate the Tibetan New Year.
This will be the fourth time Kidjo has performed for the annual Tibet House benefit concert. Kidjo is a fierce supporter of social justice and the use of music to affect change. She holds diplomatic appointments from UNICEF and the African Union and is the founder of Batonga, an African education organization.
2010 was a hugely successful, whirlwind year for Kidjo and she shows no signs of stopping in 2011. Her most recent album OYO (Razor Tie) has been nominated for a GRAMMY. USA Today chose Kidjo's new version of the classic Curtis Mayfield tune "Move On Up," as its Pick of the Week in a special GRAMMY playlist, calling the song an "exuberant gem." The song features
John Legend and Bono on vocals. (https://bit.ly/fEVV20) Additionally, Kidjo has been nominated for a 2011 NAACP Image Award.
