Costa Mesa, CA (Top40 Charts/ truTV) Coming off its best year ever in primetime and a Top 10 finish among men 18-49, truTV is ready to build on its strong momentum with the network's 2011 Upfront presentation on Tuesday, April 12, in New York. The event will feature a look at truTV's lineup of original series, including previews of several new shows that are slated to join ever-growing hits like Operation Repo, Hardcore Pawn and All Worked Up. The event will conclude with a special live performance by Grammy-winning recording artists Maroon 5.
truTV's strength in the marketplace includes a ranking as a Top 10 network with men. The network will once again deliver its Upfront presentation on its own, apart from the May event for sister networks TNT and TBS. truTV's success has been driven by such popular original series as Operation Repo, which averaged more than 2 million viewers in 2010, and Hardcore Pawn, Southern Fried Stings and All Worked Up, which each topped more than 1.5 million viewers. Other strong series for the network include Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura, Full Throttle Saloon, Las Vegas Jailhouse, Black Gold, truTV Presents: World's Dumbest..., Bait Car, It Only Hurts When I Laugh and Top 20 Most Shocking, which delivered more than 1 million viewers each.
truTV continued its record of high rankings in January, with another Top 10 basic cable finish among men 18-49. The growing hit Hardcore Pawn delivered the network's biggest telecast of all time during the month. Looking ahead, truTV has greenlit several new series, including Lizard Lick Towing, a spinoff of the network's popular All Worked Up. truTV will also carry the first four games of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament to kick off the network's shared coverage with TNT, TBS and CBS.
truTV's remarkable achievements are an ongoing phenomenon that began with the January 2008 transition from Court TV to truTV. Since the rebranding, the network has delivered strong double-digit growth among young adult and young male viewers. In addition, the network has slashed its median age a remarkable eight years, from 52 prior to rebrand to 44 in January 2011.
"Week after week, truTV proves itself to be an extraordinary success story," said Marc Juris, executive vice president and general manager of truTV. "We look forward to reaching greater heights with the arrival of several new series and our shared coverage of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament."
"Advertisers continue to respond to truTV's ability to attract the elusive young adult demos," said Linda Yaccarino, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Turner Entertainment Ad Sales/ Marketing and Acquisitions. "With truTV's growth as a Top 10 network, we have not only retained our core advertisers but also attracted new categories, from quick-serve restaurants to autos to movie studios."
truTV sister networks TNT and TBS are scheduled to hold their Upfront event on May 18.
