New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) Al Di Meola and the World Sinfonia will open their 2011 tour with performances along the West Coast and a stop at Los Angeles' Coach House on Sunday, February 20. The 11-time winner of Guitar Player's Best Jazz Guitarist award will play favorites from his 35-year catalog, as well as new songs from the virtuoso's upcoming 'Pursuit of Radical Rhapsody,' out March 15 on Telarc International, a division of Concord
Music Group.
Backed by the World Sinfonia, Di Meola's "impressive stylistic range" (NY Times) and "impassioned, intricate tunes that [wed] jazz, rock and folk traditions" (Hartford Courant) take on a life of their own on the stage, and songs can travel from the emotive to the celebratory at the drop of a hat.
Di Meola's shows have been called "legendary - energetic, emotional roller coasters brimming with fiery passion, delicate arrangements and his inspiring technique" (AZ Daily Star).
