NEW YORK, NY (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) And Joins This Year's 'Take Action Tour' Fueled By Ramen recording group The Swellers have just announced details of their much-anticipated new album. Next week, The Swellers will return to the studio with legendary musician/producer Bill Stevenson to record the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2009 Fueled By Ramen debut, "UPS AND DOWNSIZING." Stevenson - of Descendents, All, and
Black Flag fame - has also produced albums for bands including Rise Against, NOFX, and Less Than Jake, among other punk rock heavyweights. The as-yet-untitled album is set for a summer 2011 release.
"I couldn't be more excited to produce The Swellers' next album," says Stevenson. "I met these guys in 2007 when they toured with my band, Only Crime. We all became fast friends and kept in touch over the years. Even four years ago, their live show impressed the hell out of me, and I knew that I wanted to work with them on an album one day. Together, I think we can push their music to the next level and help them reach a broader audience. I can't wait to get started!"
"Not only has Bill played in some of our favorite bands, but he's written some of our favorite songs and made some of our favorite bands' records - Rise Against, Broadway Calls, Comeback Kid, Suicide Machines, NOFX, No Use For A Name, A Wilhelm Scream, Propagandhi, Good Riddance... the list goes on," says The Swellers lead vocalist/guitarist Nick Diener. Adds his brother, drummer Jonathan Diener, "His mind is always working, always on music, and that's the kind of person we want to join us as our fifth member of the band for this record." In other news, The Swellers have also announced plans to join the 2011 Take Action Tour. The Flint, MI-based quartet will join Silverstein, Bayside, Polar Bear Club and Texas in July on the road, kicking off April 22nd at Boston's Paradise Rock Club. Presented by Hot Topic, the Take Action Tour is celebrating its 10th anniversary of raising funds and awareness to assorted non-profit organizations. The Swellers have proven themselves to be an aggressive and hard-working live act. The group's Fueled By Ramen debut, "UPS AND DOWNSIZING," was named one of the best albums of 2009 by both AbsolutePunk and PunkNews. The punk rock group has been on the road nearly non-stop for the past four years, gaining fans and support from other bands with their reactive music and tireless work ethic. Since then, the band has toured with the likes of Less Than Jake, Paramore, Motion City Soundtrack, H2O, and Four Year Strong, not to mention festivals including Warped Tour and the Give It A Name and Groezrock festivals in Europe.
