Las Vegas, NV (Top40 Charts/ Monique Newton) Legends in Concert officials announced the opening lineup for the celebrated tribute show today.
The first set of tribute artists-who will perform March 17 when the show officially debuts at the new theater-will portray Elvis, Michael Jackson, Dolly Parton,
Little Richard, The Blues Brothers and Jay Leno. The Jay Leno tribute artist will be making a limited special appearance from March 17 through April 9.
World-renowned Elvis tribute artist Victor Trevino, Jr. will make his debut as part of the the Legends in Concert Myrtle Beach team. Elvis Presley Enterprises, which owns and manages the rights to the Elvis Presley image, named Trevino one of the top five Elvis tribute artists in the world. He is the 2011 Grand Prize Winner of the Tribute To The King Contest held annually at the Potawatami Bingo Casino in Milwaukee, Wisc., where he competed against many of the top Elvis tribute artists in the country.
William Hall will pay tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Hall is a veteran of Legends in Concert and is internationally recognized as one of the top Michael Jackson tribute artists of all time. He performed with Diana Ross as well as at the Jackson family for a birthday celebration for Michael's father, Joe. In addition to studying art, business, music composition and theatrical production in college, Hall is all is an all-around musician who plays the keyboard, bass and drums.
The Las Vegas-based entertainer Sandy Anderson will be Dolly Parton in the first lineup. Anderson, who has been voted the top Dolly impersonator in the United States on the "Look-Alike Hotel Reality Show," has wowed crowds all over the world and appeared on cable networks CMT, MTV and VH1. Anderson is memorialized at the Nevada State Museum and Historical Society in Las Vegas, where her likeness, costumes, wigs, and interviews are on display.
Garry Moore, or Little Richard to the audience, was first drawn to the idea of becoming a tribute artist after watching a Legends in Concert show in the '80s. He's come a long way from being mesmerized by the Sammy Davis, Jr. tribute artist that night, and has performed all over the world with his spot-on portrayal of rock n' roll legend Little Richard. While Moore was performing "Old Time Rock n' Roll" on ABC's "The Next Best Thing" in 2007, the real Little Richard surprised him by joining in on the last verse.
Veteran tribute artist Marcel Forestieri will play Jay Leno. The producers of "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" were so impressed with his impersonation that they booked him for a
skit; he eventually became a regular performer on the show. But his talent doesn't stop there. In the early '70s, Forestieri toured professionally as one of the only Elvis Presley tribute artists at the time. Recently, he has toured as "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" host Regis Philbin.
Eric Martin and Carmen Romano give a captivating tribute to The Blues Brothers. With Martin as Dan Aykroyd and Romano as the late John Belushi, this duo has performed all over the world together for more than 20 years in nearly 10,000 shows. For 10 years, their high-energy performance has been a staple at Legends in Concert Las Vegas. They have also made numerous TV appearances including those on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "The Today Show," "CBS This Morning," "Entertainment Tonight," Leeza, MTV, VH1, ESPN, and the No 1 rated show in Japan, "Monomane."
"This outstanding group of performers is on the A-team of tribute artists, and so they are ideal to kick-start our season at our new location at Broadway at the Beach," said Chris Beattie, regional general manager for Legends in Concert. "We're excited to have them take the stage in our new state-of-the-art theater and we guarantee an all-around wonderful show."
