Soundtrack To Universal Pictures' Comedy-adventure 'Paul' Stars The Weird And Wonderful
LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Universal Music Enterprises) Sure the soundtrack to Universal Pictures' upcoming comedy-adventure Paul features classics such as Todd Rundgren's "Hello It's Me," Bill Withers on Grover Washington Jr.'s "Just The Two Of Us," The B-52s' "Planet Claire," Marvin Gaye's "Got To Give It Up," ELO's "All Over The World," and a score by Grammy winner David Arnold (Independence Day and several James Bond films). But the surprising gems of Paul - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Hip-O Records/UMe), released digitally March 15, 2011 and physically April 5, 2011, are one of the weirdest rock records of all times, a '70s new wave track called "arguably, the greatest rock single ever recorded" and a Star Wars song covered by a Western swing band.

The insanely rockabilly "Flying Saucers Rock 'N' Roll" was recorded in 1957 at famed Sun Studios in Memphis (yes, that's Jerry Lee Lewis on piano!) by Billy Lee Riley, who Bob Dylan has called his hero. "Another Girl, Another Planet" from English power pop group The Only Ones surfaced in 1978 and has been widely hailed not only by Allmusic but "Q Magazine," which ranked it among the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks. Syd Masters and The Swing Riders, a vintage cowboy band found most weekends tearing up hotel lounges throughout New Mexico, covers "Cantina Band." One expects nothing less weird and wonderful from stars and writers Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead), star Seth Rogen (The Green Hornet) and director Greg Mottola (Superbad). Paul will be released nationwide on March 18 by Universal Pictures.
