NEW YORK (Top40 Charts) - Norah Jones' second album, Feels Like Home, sold 1.02 million copies in its first week of release - the highest sales debut for an album since 2001. That marks the best sales debut since 'N Sync's 'Celebrity' sold 1.88 million copies in its first week in 2001. " Feels Like Home" was released Feb. 10, and for the week ending Sunday, it sold 1,022,149 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Jones' 2002 debut Come Away With Me has sold 8 million copies in the U.S. Feels Like Home hit stores on Feb. 10. Bruce Lundvall, head of Blue Note Records (Jones' label) said yesterady "this is the kind of achievement that one can only expect from a truly original, extraordinary artist like Norah. It's not very often that an artist can span so many genres and enjoy such broad appeal. But that's what happens when the music is this good." Jones' first album, "Come Away With Me," was a surprise hit when it was released in 2002. The album of folky jazz tunes wasn't expected to sell 100,000, but has now sold more than 8 million copies. It also won eight Grammys last year, including album of the year. It continues to be a strong seller, and actually rose in sales, from about 43,000 in the previous week to 80,000 for the week ending Sunday.
