LISBON, Portugal (70s Website) - Les Gray, the 57 year old front man of 70's pop band Mud, has died at his home in Portugal. He suffered a heart attack, although he had also been battling against throat cancer for some time. Gray had been undergoing chemotherapy rather than having his voicebox removed since he wanted to continue singing. He was due to play in a charity concert with Alvin Stardust, Marmalade and Middle Of The Road in Glasgow, Scotland this Saturday. The show will still be held, but now as a tribute to the former star. Mud, which had a British No. 1 single with "Tiger Feet" in 1974 and "Oh Boy" in 1975. scored a total of 10 Top 20 hits. Their last album was 1990's "Let's Have a Party." Soon after that album was released, Gray moved to a small village in the Algarve with his wife Carol, who nursed him through cancer. His family and his wife Carol Gray said that "the funeral would be held in Portugal".
