LONDON, CT. (Top40 Charts/ Black Paint Music) Doublethink (www.doublethinkonline.com), an unsigned alternative rock band from New London, CT, was at this year's SXSW in Austin, TX, and brought along a message. On Saturday afternoon, the band walked up and down 6th Street with a large vinyl banner stating "Welcome to $X$W - Love doublethink", getting over 1000 signatures and photos from musicians, fans, industry, and passers-by.
"We love South By Southwest," says lead singer/guitarist of the group Scott Brown, "and come here every year. But we feel that it's lost its own vision. Kanye West is here, Duran Duran is here, Puddle Of Mudd is here, a whole slew of major label bands are here. Why? The original vision of SXSW was to help new music to be discovered. The only reason those huge bands are here, is for the SXSW organization to boost attendance at an already over-crowded festival and make more money. I know a lot of people feel the same way as we do but we actually took the step and put it on a banner and walked around saying it."
Photos of the banner from clean to covered in signatures can be viewed at the doublethink Facebook page (https://facebook.com/doublethink), along with discussion and more information from the band.
