New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Jesse Abraham official website) NYC underground hip-hop veteran
Jesse Abraham comes out with a new project, one that is an impressive reflection of his rising talent as an emcee and songwriter. While his 2010's mixtapes "XS", "Alphabutter" and "Bars & NoBull" were well-received by critics and fans alike, "
One Day" is a step away from Abraham simply being a likable rapper and towards being a fully viable artist. Ology.com says that the project is "definitely worth a listen if you're looking for something different" while UrbanFlair.com says that JA "paints a vivid picture with his story-telling skills" on this project.
With features from underground standouts such as
Fresh Daily and Eric Sosa, and capitalizing on production from industry heavyweights like Panjabi MC, !llmind and K.O. Beatz, the EP contains songs ranging in subject matter, tone and intention. Yet it still retains a sense of cohesion, as RapReviews.com says that "it's interesting to hear his background and unique perspective as a rapper incorporated into his lyrics, and this alone makes his debut EP worth checking out." Led off by the hit single "Spiderman on Vitamins", this project boasts not only continuous play value, but replay value as well, as Abraham is the type of emcee who it might take two or three listens to catch all of his lyrical gems.
Who is
Jesse Abraham? Inspired by such artists as The Fugees, Kool G. Rap and OutKast, the authenticity of
Jesse Abraham's music reflects his growing up in New York City in the '80s, right alongside the groundbreaking hip-hop of Run-D.M.C. and the Beastie Boys.
Jesse Abraham began to attract considerable attention on the open-mic circuit and in the online world of hip-hop in 2009, winning numerous freestyle competitions and establishing his rep alongside underground acts such as Homeboy Sandman and Ill Spokinn at Sin Sin Freestyle Mondays, where the contenders and pretenders would battle it out. Mixtapes he released in 2010 spent weeks on DJBooth.net's Top 10 Charts, and the singles 'Yoga' and 'Spiderman on Vitamins' have been major hits in the underground.
"I put my work ethic and passion into everything I do," explains Jesse, who has performed at countless of venues such as Knitting Factory, Sullivan Hall and Joe's Pub, and has performed back to back years at South By Southwest and CMJ Festival. He continues to reinvent the responsibilities a hip-hop artist holds, and his potential is only surpassed by his passion for the genuine essence of his genre. But if you ask him, he simply aspires to inspire.
