BURBANK, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Reprise Records) Neil Young came home to Canada this weekend to accept the Allan Waters "Humanitarian Of The Year Award" for the great contributions he's made over the years to a variety of charities including his ongoing dedication to Farm Aid and the work he has done with his wife Pegi on The Bridge School. Before the weekend was over though, Neil was also taking home Juno Awards for "Adult Alternative Album Of The Year" for the album Le Noise and "Artist Of The Year" (beating out the likes of Justin Bieber and Drake). The Juno Awards were broadcast live nationally from the Air Canada Centre in Young's hometown of Toronto, Ontario. Upon accepting the "Humanitarian Of The Year Award," Young hailed the inspiration of his son Ben and the hard work of his wife Pegi in making the Bridge School a success. "She's the one who put it all together, makes me look good. She's the one with the ideas. And I'm the one with the reputation." On Saturday night, at a non-televised Gala, Neil, who was accompanied by his daughter Amber throughout the weekend, won the award for "Adult Alternative Album Of The Year" for his latest Reprise Records album Le Noise. Looking at the award he quipped "When you're an adult there is no alternative. If there was, I'd be that." Later on that same evening, Neil's good friend Daniel Lanois won the Jack Rchardson "Producer Of The Year Award" for his production on Le Noise (as well as the work he did on the Black Dub's album). It was Lanois who introduced Neil and presented him the "Humanitarian Award" on Sunday night. Towards the end of the Sunday night telecast Young was truly surprised when his name was called as "Artist Of The Year." He got his second standing ovation of the night and shook hands with the fans as he walked towards the podium to accept the award from his old friend Randy Bachman (BTO, The Guess Who). "What year is this," he asked smiling broadly before holding the trophy over his head and claiming "Oh, Canada!."
Neil Young was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame in 1982.
