SXSW 2011: Bob Geldof, Duran Duran, Duff Mckagan & Reinvent Or Die
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ WomensRadio Official Website) WomensRadio, the aggregating radio Website, re-learned the alphabet this year, South by Southwest style and is back from Austin to share our overflowing hoard of audio, video, photographs and the treasured memories which accompany them. Viewers will have plenty to sink their teeth into and with an abundance of Exclusive Acoustic Sets and Interviews from both Official and Unofficial Showcasing Bands containing at least one female member, Official Panels, Live Interviews and Keynote Speeches, it's as easy as "A, B, C" for readers to engage with each group via original content provided by the WomensRadio staff. All-in-all, each featured performing artist or group is given the opportunity to stand out amongst thousands of other equally-impressive selections while being discovered by the targeted demographic of WomensRadio's niche audience of leaders ... who also happen to be women.

In the post-SXSW 2011 aftermath, Bob Geldof, Duran Duran, Duff McKagan and Reinvent Or Die (panel) remain heavyweight hitters, and as so boldly established by WomensRadio's Director of Music & Talent, Brian Ball, "Waking up early enough to catch the keynote each year is probably the most daunting task for any devoted SXSW-goer. This year we had a downtown hotel, which not only allowed for a nice walk down to the Austin Convention Center, but also afforded us a couple moments to sneak over to Taco Shack for some amazing breakfast tacos before witnessing the magic of this year's keynote and former Boomtown Rat, Bob Geldof.

'Create your own world ... with your own values.' -Bob Geldof

In the video below, viewers will catch a glimpse at the personality behind Geldof, while at the same time peering into the soul of a legend. During the keynote, Geldof touched on many topics, one of which popped up several times throughout ... the topic of today's music, and it's apparent lack of 'angst'.

'I don't hear the disgust in music ... and I need to.' -Bob Geldof

Mr. Ball continued with the following account:

That same afternoon of Thursday, March 17th 2011 saw the recently reunited Duran Duran take the stage in Austin Convention Center's 18ABC for an interview with former MTV VJ John Norris. The band declares early on that the chairs are way too far apart, and go about rearranging the stage to their liking. This is in fact caught on video and made available for our audience to check out.

In-between we were able to catch up with former Guns N' Roses bassist, Duff McKagan, for an in-depth view of the financial history of the only band who can claim to have created the highest selling debut album of all time, both in the US and worldwide. During his panel, McKagan offered advice in a Q&A fashion on such topics as market swings, publishing deals and much more.

'I'm a long-term investor ... I don't pay attention to the swings.' -Duff McKagan

Moving over to a smaller room, which did fill up quite nicely, our viewers will be introduced to the panel members of Reinvent Or Die, a panel dedicated to the current state of affairs concerning music magazines, both online and in print. Panelists include Jamin Warren, Andy Cohn (The FADER), Shawn Reynaldo (XLR8R) and Aaron Richter (self-titled magazine) + moderator Christopher Kaskie (Pitchfork).

Topics covered the do's and don'ts of publishing in 2011, how much money is lost on printing a physical product, how and when to implement redesigns and the sheer value of content in an overcrowded market.

'If you invest n your content ... it deserves the best presentation possible.' -Reinvent Or Die

Needless to say, we learned a lot and are proud to share as much of our experience as possible with our readers.
