Death Cab For Cutie Unveil Summer Headline Tour; New Album 'Codes And Keys,' Arrives Everywhere On May 31, 2011
NEW YORK, NY (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) Atlantic recording group Death Cab for Cutie has set details for their much-anticipated summer headline tour. The dates celebrate the upcoming release of the acclaimed band's eagerly awaited new album, "CODES AND KEYS," which arrives in stores and all online retailers on May 31st.

Death Cab for Cutie will hit the road beginning July 27th at Columbus, Ohio's LC Outdoor Amphitheater, followed by major shows across the U.S. and Canada. (see below itinerary). Pre-sale tickets to most of the newly announced dates will be available starting on Friday, April 29th at www.dcfcunion.com; all remaining tickets will then go on sale to the general public the following weekend, May 6th-8th (check local listings). All shows to feature acclaimed band Frightened Rabbit as support.

Furthermore, Death Cab for Cutie will also be among the top acts appearing at Montreal's upcoming Osheaga Festival, slated for July 31st. And as if that weren't enough, the band is also set for a two-night-stand at Los Angeles' famed Greek Theater on August 18th and 19th. The new tour dates follow Death Cab for Cutie's imminent North American tour of intimate venues, all of which are long sold out. Those dates begin May 18th at Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theatre, followed by further stops in Chicago, Minneapolis, New York City, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Boston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. In addition, a series of additional live shows are slated in and around the band's native Pacific Northwest, including headline dates in Edmonton, Calgary, and Bend, Oregon, as well as a May 28th headline appearance at the 2011 Sasquatch! Music Festival at George, Washington's Gorge Amphitheater.

Long known for their ingenious and imaginative videos, Death Cab for Cutie recently made history with the companion clip for their extraordinary new single, "You Are A Tourist." Directed by award-winning filmmaker Tim Nackashi (TV On The Radio, OK Go, Elvis Costello, Radiohead), and conceptualized by frequent collaborator Aaron Stewart-Ahn, "You Are A Tourist" is the first-ever live, scripted, single-take music video to be broadcast as it is filmed. The first single from "CODES AND KEYS," "You Are A Tourist" is already ascending the airplay charts at multi-format radio outlets nationwide. The track is currently bulleting its way up the top 10 on both Billboard's "Alternative Songs" and "Rock Songs" tallies, ranking airplay detections as measured by Nielsen BDS.

"You Are A Tourist" is available now at all DSPs, including iTunes, where fans can pre-order "CODES AND KEYS" via iTunes Album Pass and receive album tracks plus the "You Are A Tourist" music video weeks prior to the official street date.
