New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ ATTENTION! PR) Downtown
Music Publishing has launched dms.FM, an online music licensing application for the film, television, advertising and video game communities.
Through dms.FM, content creators will be able to easily access the company's vast catalog of recorded music and music publishing assets including over 40,000 titles by artists ranging from Charlie Parker, Motley Crue and Frankie Goes to Hollywood to Social Distortion, Santigold and Neon Trees.
The platform, which offers complete search, stream, and download access to the catalog, also incorporates a sophisticated project management application for single-song and high-volume music users alike. The launch brings with it an addition of 8,000 titles to the Downtown catalog, as well as an introduction to The Composer Series, a quarterly collection of music developed exclusively for the licensing community.
To usher in this new phase of the company, Downtown has hired Josh Kessler to serve as dms.FM's Vice President, Business Development. Kessler formerly served as the Vice President of Mastersource until its acquisition in 2007 by Universal Music Publishing where he became a Senior Executive. An accomplished music producer and music supervisor, Kessler will be based in Downtown's New York office where he will oversee the platform and the marketing and development of the company's music catalogs for sync.
"While sync licensing has emerged as one of the most important functions of a rights manager, the broader sync licensing market has remained terribly inefficient," said Justin Kalifowitz, President, Downtown Music Publishing. "We are excited to introduce dms.FM as a utility for music supervisors to more easily engage with our growing and diverse catalog. With the hiring of Josh Kessler, a seasoned executive who has been at the forefront of sync licensing, we are continuing to further our commitment to this vibrant sector of the industry."
As part of the expansion, dms.FM has added several thousand pre-cleared titles to the catalog. Additionally, The Composer Series will feature music by both well-known and emerging artists and will serve as a curated, one-stop destination for content creators across all forms of media. Its first release, a set by Junkie XL, can already be heard on ABC, HBO and in trailers for the new Bradley Cooper / Robert DeNiro film "Limitless."
