Basia Lyjak Announces Release Of New Single & A Marty Award Nomination!
TORONTO, ON (Top40 Charts/ Basia Lyjak Official Website) Once dubbed "Canada's Princess of Rock n' Roll," Basia Lyjak is back with a brand new FACTOR-assisted single - available on iTunes and digitally May 10, 2011 - a MARTY Award nomination in the "Emerging Performing Arts" category, plus 3 more singles and a new music video for the summer!

After a writing and recording hiatus, including three month visit to Alberta to explore the music scene in Canada's west, Basia is ready to unveil her new single and sixth independent release! Written in Calgary with her longtime guitar player and frequent songwriting partner, Ron Bechard (Sin Dealer, Crash Karma, Patrizia), and recorded at Toronto's Wellesley Sound with Steve Major, "Sunshine" is a fun, girl-power cruising song for the open highway - a hood down, hot sun on your face, feel-good track that draws from Basia's early country roots and influences, while still showcasing the soaring rock chick vocals she has made a name for herself with!

"I'm done with limiting myself to genres when every kid with an iPod has at least 50 different kinds of music on it! That's the mindset I was in when we went into the studio with these new songs - I wanted to make them the best they can be, not cram them into a genre," says Basia of "Sunshine" and the 3 genre-bending singles set to follow it this summer: "Hero," "Yeah Yeah Yeah" and the Yurko Mychaluk (Klooch, Nelly Furtado) co-written track "Sick N' Tired."

Rather than release another EP or stand-alone single as she has done in the past, Basia's goal for 2011 and onward is to keep a stream of fresh music coming out - "Basically, I don't want to give anyone the chance to stop listening!"

And it would seem that people haven't stopped listening, even when Basia was busy working on film sets rather than tearing up stages across the province and country, in a bid to save enough cash to independently launch her new singles. With constantly bustling social media outlets in Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and more, Basia has continued to grow her fan base, refusing to let her project fall to the wayside in an out of sight, out of mind entertainment industry!

Receiving one of the best welcomes back an indie artist could hope for, The Mississauga Arts Council has nominated Basia among their picks for the best in the Emerging Performing Arts field for the 2011 MARTYs, with the potential for a People's Choice Award to boot! Airing live on RogersTV from 7PM on Friday, May 13th, 2011, and Hosted by JUNO nominee Liberty Silver, Basia is coming back with a roar, planning to kick butt one single at a time!

BIOGRAPHY
Basia Lyjak is a petite, spitfire package of catchy tunes, raw and sexy soaring vocals and a try-and-stop-me attitude that helps this FACTOR-award winning singer pack a punch! With her band of Canadian rock all-stars - guitarist Ron Bechard (Crash Karma), bassist Dave Carreiro (Nigels 11 feat. Chris Kirkpatrick of 'Nsync), drummer Dale Harrison (The Headstones) - she defies anyone who hears her not to feel her passion, talent & drive.
