When asked about putting out a solo project Pennjamin said "It was obviously more challenging to make this album but this was a more rewarding experience simply because it was all me." The album has a depth of range yet centers on the person Pennjamin has become through the journey of life. "At times it felt like I would never complete the project. Then there were other times where I had to question if I was apprehensive about putting the project out because I couldn't make it any better than it was at that point."

Being that I was coming out of a group situation, I really wanted to stand on my own two feet for the majority of the project."
