 NEW YORK (Top40 Charts) - According to reports, Usher has scored the best opening sales week ever for a male R&B artist and the best debut week of 2004 with his new album Confessions. The album debuts at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 with sales of 1.1mil copies in the US to give the singer his first chart-topping album.  The previous record (best opening sales for male R&B artist) was held by R. Kelly's 2000 Jive album tp-2.com with sales of 543,000 copies in its first week. To set the 2004 sales record, Confessions topped the 1.02mil copies sold by Norah Jones' Feels Like Home upon its entry last month. Usher's album is actually the highest-selling long player since June 2002 when The Eminem Show moved 1.3mil copies.
