LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts) - Kelis was involved in a car accident on her birthday, Tuesday (August 21), while participating in an charity car race in Castle Donington, Leicestershire in England, a spokesperson confirmed. The 22-year-old R&B singer was in a Minardi sports car driven by Minardi's European spokesman Paul Stoddard, when they were rear-ended by ex-Formula 1 racer Nigel Mansell. Each managed to avoid injuries. In related news, Kelis is preparing to release "Young, Fresh, And New" as the first single from her sophomore album Wanderland, which has been rescheduled for an early 2002 street date. Kelis sings the chorus on Busta Rhymes's "What It Is," and Foxy Brown's "Candy," which entered Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart last week at Number 74. Both songs are produced by the Neptunes.
