Brighton Rock (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts/ CineMedia Promotions) From the award winning composer Martin Phipps, best known for his BBC period dramas North and South, Elizabeth - The Virgin Queen, and films Harry Brown and Endgame, comes a dark orchestral score to director Rowan Joffe's bold adaptation of Graham Greene's novel.

This remarkable score is perhaps best described as a film noir flavored large orchestral score, interspersed with gritty 60s jazz drumming. The vocals are very important in fleshing out the characters and are performed by The Brighton Youth Festival Choir and the BBC singers.

The score also features the beautiful Richard Hawley ballad, written and performed by him, "There's A Storm A'Comin'", which plays over the end credits.

The film is written and directed by Rowan Joffe, best known for co-writing British independent movies 28 Weeks Later and Last Resort. Starring Sam Riley (Control) and Andrea Riseborough (Made In Dagenham), with support from Andy Serkis, Helen Mirren and John Hurt, this new take on Graham Greene's pre-war literary classic moves the gangster action to the mods and rockers era of 1964.

"A splendidly bombastic score from Martin Phipps adds to a sense of operatic majesty"
- The Guardian

Composer Martin Phipps is the recipient of 2 Ivor Novello Awards forBest TV soundtracks (Elizabeth - The Virgin Queen and Oliver Twist) and 2 BAFTA Craft Awards for Best Original TV Music for Wallander and Small Island.
