The Horrible Crowes Featuring The Gaslight Anthem's Brian Fallon-confirm Sparse, Haunting Debut 'elsie' Out 9/6 On Sideonedummy
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) The Horrible Crowes, the new project of Gaslight Anthem frontman Brian Fallon and longtime friend Ian Perkins, have confirmed the Sept 6 release of their debut album 'Elsie' on SideOneDummy Records. While Fallon has spent the better part of the past decade inciting hard-rocking sing-alongs everywhere from basement shows in New Jersey to headlining dates at Radio City Music Hall, the twelve tracks on 'Elsie' find him turning his perspective inward for an introspective and frequently unsettling sound. "It's an experiment with the darker side of soul music," he explains of the record, which was produced by Ted Hutt (Dropkick Murphys, Chuck Ragan) and features appearances by other members of The Gaslight Anthem.

The Horrible Crowes were born last year out of late-night musical bonding sessions on the road between Fallon and Perkins. "The two of us had this ritual where we'd go into the back of the bus at the end of the show and just start showing each other records," Fallon remembers. Their mutual love of songwriters like Tom Waits, PJ Harvey, Afghan Whigs, and Joan As Police Woman led to writing and recording sessions that turned out decidedly unlike either's previous work. Drum loops anchor 'Elsie' beneath subdued guitars and orchestrated piano and string arrangements. Lyrically, it stands as Fallon's most personal work to date, as he strips back the metaphors to lay it all on the line, from drug addictions and ex-girlfriends to religion and redemption.

Fallon sees The Horrible Crowes not as a Gaslight Anthem side-project, but as another face of his musical identity. "The one thing I wanted to stay away from here was doing an acoustic folk record or something that sounded like my other band," he explains. "This is a completely different beast."

The Horrible Crowes will announce limited tour dates soon.

Last Rites
Sugar
Behold the Hurricane
I Witnessed a Crime
Go Tell Everybody
