NEW YORK (P. Diddy Fans Website) - Sean "P. Diddy" Combs is adding yet another title to his resume - star of the stage. Combs made his broadway debut Monday night as Walter Lee Younger in "A Raisin in the Sun". Walter Lee Younger came to life once again on Broadway and this time it was Puff Diddy who revived the nostalgia. According to P. Diddy Fans Website, this was the hip-hop music mogul's first foray into theatre and it impressed critics for sure. That role was first made famous by Sidney Poitier in the original 1959 debut of the play. It was the first Broadway play written by, directed by and starring African Americans. The audience comprising of celebrity pals like Oprah Winfrey, Spike Lee, Russell Simmons, Beyonce Knowles and Brooke Shields, gave him a two-curtain standing ovation. Returning onstage after the curtain fell, Combs unfurled a T-shirt bearing the image of playwright Hansberry and proudly shot a fist into the air. Combs, 33, has had just one major role, 2002's Monster's Ball, and only began taking acting lessons a few years ago. He spent 12 to 14 hours a day over the past several weeks rehearsing for Raisin. Diddy's rap leanings have helped the show net more than 2.2 million dollars in advanced ticket sales. Raisin is also appealing to Diddy's hip-hop fan base, a group that generally eschews Broadway.
