New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Rockwired Media) The polls have closed for Rockwired's recent Artist of the Month campaign. Voters from all over the U.S. made their vote count and the band Earth and the Next Society walked away the winner. In an age where cynicism and irony run rampant in the pop stratosphere, a band such as Earth and the Next Society doesn't seem like an easy fit in any demographic. Fronted by guitarist/singer/songwriter Michael Shields, Earth and the Next Society have released their live CD 'Live Earth (the first time a live CD has been featured on ROCKWIRED's programming) - a truly stirring performance that relishes in the sound and era that SHIELDS and the boys look to for inspiration - 60's era rock. Yes sir, this is your grandfather's arena rock and just like the bands that came to typify that golden age or crock n roll, Earth and the Next Society issue calls for change with enough power chords and bravado to make even the most hardened cynic go all peace and love on you. Other nominees for Artist of the Month included Feel Never Real, When Darkness Falls, Jana Mashonee, Big Shot Reub and the Reloaders, Tom Shaner and Life After Lift Off. The victory for Earth and the Next Society was a close one with Jana Mashonee coming in second by only 5% of the vote. ROCKWIRED.COM will be launching its latest Artist of the Month campaign on July 1, 2011. Nominees for this latest wave include Sexstone, Revel 9, Simplified, Against All Will, Mark Anderson, Razer and Egypt Central. Polling is provided by Micropoll and is as simple as making a selection and clicking 'vote'. While there is no trophy or huge payday for being an Artist of the Month winner, the benefits that come along with the title include expanded coverage and promotion. An Artist of the Month winner is awarded a month's worth of free site-wide advertising on Rockwired.com. A 60-second commercial spot promoting the winner and their album will be featured on all of Rockwired's programing for an entire month. The winner is also featured in a special edition of Rockwired Radio Profiles. Banners are also given to the winners to further promote their Artist of the Month status on their own website or press packets. Lastly, winners are mentioned on all Rockwired-related announcements/press materials. "Earth and the Next Society have a big, bombastic arena rock sound that harkens back to an age where anything as possible." Says Rockwired founder Brian Lush. "Now we're in a time where things truly seem hopeless but this band has a sentiment that you don't find in a lot of music these days. God forbid music should give you hope!"
