Bluesman Extraordinaire Steve Freund To Host Red House's Weekly Blues Jam
Walnut Creek, CA (Top40 Charts/ Red House Studios, Inc.) Red House Studios, the Bay Area's innovative music school, performance venue and jam club, today announced the addition of Chicago-trained guitarist Steve Freund to its staff. Freund will be hosting Red House's flagship Player's Club Blues Jam every Wednesday evening from 7-10 p.m. Freund succeeds legendary San Francisco bluesman Johnny Nitro, who passed away in February 2011.

Freund began his career in Chicago as the main guitarist for piano legend Sunnyland Slim, and has performed with blues greats Big Walter Horton, Pinetop Perkins, Jimmy Walker and many more. Freund has appeared on thirty-four record albums, and produced seven. The latest of his three studio solo albums, Lonesome Flight, was released in 2010 and is available on iTunes. He also appeared on Koko Taylor's Grammy-winning Blues Explosion.

"Red House's blues jam is now in its sixth year, and we owe much of our success to the fine bluesmen that have hosted the Jam. We're delighted to have Steve Freund continue that tradition," said Raja Singh, Red House's founder. "He brings a wealth of experience to our stage, and will be a tremendous resource for our customers."

"Red House offers a unique opportunity for musicians to develop their chops, connect with other players and have a great time playing the blues in a professional grade venue," said Freund. "I'm proud to be involved, and look forward to continuing the jam's success."

To celebrate Freund's arrival, Red House is hosting a free afternoon concert at its venue on Sunday, July 24th from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Steve will be performing along with Red House music director Jeff Magidson at 2:00 p.m. Other performers include The East Bay Groove Diggers, The Red House All-Stars, Blue Yonder and Lisa Shevchenko & Friends. The event is open to all ages. Barbeque tri-tip, hamburgers and hot dogs will be available for sale, along with draft beer and other menu items from Red House's snack bar.
