Two-time GRAMMY Award Nominee Sones de Mexico Ensemble announces Summer/Fall 2011 tour dates and will be hitting the road in support of their latest release entitled VIVA LA REVOLUCION! The groups fifth album is an upbeat celebration; a musical tribute to the 100th anniversary of The Mexican Revolution. Included in the live set are classic revolutionary songs from the early 20th Century, contemporary tributes to this historical period as well as familiar songs from their previous albums FIESTA MEXICANA, ESTA TIERRA ES TUYA, FANDANGO ON 18TH STREET, and QUE FLOREZCA.

Expect a dynamic show with tasty arrangements of traditional Mexican folk tunes and clever experiments with Bach, Led Zeppelin, Woody Guthrie and Buck Owens, lush three-part harmonies, and many instrumental colors as the multi-instrumentalist group works its way through a collection of over 30 string, wind and percussion instruments: harps, fiddles, marimba, guitars of all sizes and shapes, and even a donkey-jaw! There is colorful dancing with beautiful costume changes, and continuous leaps to different Mexican music styles: from an Aztec dance to a toe-tapping polka to a melodic huapango.

ABOUT SONES DE MEXICO ENSEMBLE CHICAGO: Latin GRAMMY and GRAMMY Nominated Sones de Mexico Ensemble Chicago is a premier folk music ensemble specializing in Mexican "son", including the regional styles of "huapango", "gustos", "chilenas", "son jarocho", and more. The group formed in 1994 to keep the tradition of Mexican "son" alive in its many regional forms. As a performer and recording artist, the ensemble has developed and popularized many original arrangements of Mexican traditional songs. Some of its original work has experimented cross-culturally with symphonic, Irish, folk, C&W, jazz, and rock music, though never abandoning its roots in Mexican "son". The ensemble is also committed to teaching and has a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to quality education programs for children and adults of all ages. All band members reach out to young and old with award winning educational programs nationwide.
