Toronto, ON (Top40 Charts/ Skylar Entertainment) South Africa's top selling rock band, The Parlotones, to broadcast a live, multi-platform 3D/2D event simultaneously to cinemas, televisions and the internet on July 16, 2011. Dragonflies and Astronauts is a rock theatre event that weaves a narrative through The Parlotones 16 top 40 hits and will be broadcast live from The Teatro at Montecasino. The transmission - a world first - will be beamed via satellite to 3D outlets around the globe.

The landmark production integrates some of the more theatrical elements The Parlotones have become known for in their music videos and to some degree in their more recent performances. In the tradition of performers like
David Bowie and Pink Floyd, the creative crew of the show has spun a futuristic, science fiction yarn which will form the backbone of the visualization and storytelling, using the band's numerous hits as well as some of their more obscure recordings as the soundtrack for a sci-fi rock opera. Audiences will be able to indulge their senses when they experience The Parlotones playing their songs live as a theatrical performance unfolds on stage.
'Dragonflies & Astronauts' promises to be a dramatic visual journey that mixes the delights of the performing arts with the electric, polished rock performance of The Parlotones against the backdrop of their deftly crafted and darkly romantic lyrics. A sci-fi tale with a love story at the heart of it, 'Dragonflies & Astronauts' is a production like none you've seen before.

It will be broadcast LIVE in 3D on DIRECTV's 3D channel, n3D, powered by Panasonic in the United States, and live on 3D in Nu Metro Cinemas across South Africa. The event will also be available live in 2D on DIRECTV, YouTube (3D w Google enabled TV) and Facebook for fans across the globe to watch. The Facebook broadcast will be utilizing its new video chat capabilities.

America for additional headlining tour dates in October. Live Design, the live cd/dvd combo from their sold out performance at the 20,000-capacity Coca Cola Dome in Johannesburg, is now available.
