Partridge Family tuning up for big screen

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Paramount Pictures has bought feature film rights to The Partridge Family, the hit ABC series that followed the humorous adventures of a clan of musicians.
"Like the original series, it's a contemporary family comedy. We aren't looking to make it some campy remake but a mainstream family movie in the vein of 'School of Rock,"' producer Billy Gerber told The Hollywood Reporter.

Paramount optioned the "Partridge Family" rights from TV writer/playwright Bernard Slade, who created the original series for ABC. Slade will executive produce the feature, which is out to writers.
He also created The Flying Nun TV series.
