The Alternate Routes Launch North American Tour In Support Of New Album Lately
New Haven, CT (Top40 Charts/ Richlyn Marketing) The Alternate Routes announce their return to the road this summer with a North American tour including the first ever Canadian dates for band (in Montreal and Toronto). After two critically acclaimed albums on Vanguard Records, an appearance on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and performances with Johnny Lang, O.A.R., Squeeze, Marc Broussard, Live and Brandi Carlile, the band has independently released the new album Lately.

Produced by Teddy Morgan (Kevin Costner & Modern West) at The Bario East in Nashville, Tenn., the Routes' updated sound on Lately is more spontaneous and raw than what we've heard from them in the past, but it retains the melody, depth and power of their previous efforts. This less-glossy version of the band is more true to the no-holds-barred, uplifting live show that put them on the map in the first place.

"We put out our best record yet. We're doing better than we ever have, and we're doing everything ourselves," says guitarist/founder Eric Donnelly. The Hartford Courant's Eric Danton agrees, "The band sounds energized and often exhilarated," he said, "letting singer Tim Warren's voice ring over layers of brawny guitars piled atop sturdy rhythms."

Part of this layering on Lately is thanks to drummer Richard Medek and guitarist turned bassist Mike Sembos, both of whom will be joining the band on the tour. Also featured on Lately is multi-instrumentalist Carl Broemel of My Morning Jacket.

Opting for the road less travelled, cofounders Tim Warren (vocals, acoustic guitar) and Eric Donnelly (lead guitar) refuse to be constrained by one genre or radio format writing and performing songs that range from sparse acoustic ballads featuring Patti Griffin, to rock and roll anthems, and everything in between. The Alternate Routes are now fully in control of their own fate, and couldn't be happier than to take their ever evolving live show to new audiences and new ears.

About Lately
"Lately is a great sounding record, which is, well, great. Even better than good sound, though, are good songs, and these tunes are."- Eric Danton, Hartford Advocate.

"Now three albums into a critically lauded career, The Alternate Routes show little signs of slowing down. Even with the attrition of band members, the loss of a label and enough headaches to send most groups into a tail spin, the ever powerful one two punch of Tim Warren and Eric Donnelly knows no bounds. Lately is proof of that."- Gregory Dobson, AbsolutePunk.Net
