NEW YORK, NY (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) Canvasback Music/Atlantic recording artists
Grouplove have unveiled details of their upcoming North American tour. The headlining dates begin on
September 9th at the
Black Cat in Washington, DC, and continue through a hometown finale on October 26th at El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. Young Man and Belle Brigade will be serving as main support on select dates throughout the tour (see below tour itinerary).
The Los Angeles-based band's fall tour will support the September 13th release of their highly anticipated, full length debut, "NEVER TRUST A HAPPY SONG." "NEVER TRUST A HAPPY SONG" was produced by the band's own Ryan Rabin and features Grouplove's lead single, "Colours." Earlier this year, SPIN called "Colours" "one of the most infectious songs you're bound to hear" and declared Grouplove "a band to watch in 2011." Today, Grouplove unveiled new music from the album, premiering the track "Close Your Eyes and Count to Ten" on the magazine's website, SPIN.com https://www.spin.com/articles/exclusive-las-grouplove-howl-new-tune.
In addition to their headlining tour, Grouplove are set to join Two Door Cinema Club as main support for a run of shows in late September that will include stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego. This summer, the band will also be performing at a number of high profile music festivals around the world, including Australia's Splendor in the Grass, the UK's Reading & Leeds festivals, and both Lollapalooza and Outside Lands in the U.S.
Heralded by NME as one of the "Best New Bands of 2010," Grouplove closed last year touring the U.S. with The Joy Formidable and being handpicked to open a number of West Coast dates for Florence + The Machine. Since releasing their self-titled debut EP in January, the band has been on the road nearly non-stop. NPR has described Grouplove's music as "wild, thrilling and above all joyful noise" with support coming from key tastemaker stations like KEXP in Seattle and KCRW in Los Angeles, who invited the band to perform in-studio on their signature daily music show "Morning Becomes Eclectic." Earlier this spring, Grouplove co-headlined a sold-out cross country U.S. tour with Foster The People and served as main support to Mercury Prize nominee Anna Calvi on NME's Radar Tour through the UK.
