Phoenix, AZ (Top40 Charts/ Cutting Edge Official Website) In what continues to be the "Story of the Summer", indie artist, Cutting Edge, through the month of July, has two songs inside the top 20 of the Billboard Hot Single Sales charts. Both of the band's songs, the ballad "Without You," which entered the chart at No 17 and "If The
Walls Could Talk," which entered at No 20, made their debut on July 7, 2011; the first time ever an Indie band debuted two songs inside the top 20 of the chart during the same week. What is more surprising to music insiders is that after five weeks, both songs are still charting and in fact, both songs are still climbing the Billboard chart. On August 4th, "
Without You" climbed up to No 9 and "If The
Walls Could Talk" moved up to No 15. This is an amazing feat for any recording artist to accomplish and even more amazing for an indie recording artist. To give more perspective of this accomplishment by Cutting Edge, last week,
Lady Gaga was the only other artist to have two songs inside the top 20 and this week, she only has one song on the chart.
Lady Antebellum and
Coldplay are currently No 1 and No 2 on the chart.
The strength of Cutting Edge seems to be coming from internet radio stations, video play on various music channels and bloggers. During the week of July 21, "Without You" received over 3,200 spins at internet radio stations in the U.S. alone and became No 1 recording artist on the Online Radio Breakout Charts, while "If The Walls Could Talk" peaked at No 8 during the same time. Cutting Edge has produced eight videos at very little cost and they are receiving excellent comments from the public and bloggers. Music Dish TV stated the music videos "remind one of the way music videos used to be made-always moving, very busy and highly intriguing.
The amazing part of this "Story of the Summer" is that Cutting Edge is accomplishing this feat without a band manager, booking agent or public relations firm. Cutting Edge has their own record label and publishing company.
Even with the success, the band realizes that now is the time to begin looking for a management team for the band, a publishing company and a booking agency to help book a concert tour next spring. Cutting Edge is releasing a new album called "Cutting Edge Goes To College" in September. Past Cutting Edge songs to chart include "Love Police", "Every Time I Try", and "It's Time".
