New York, NY (Top40 Charts) ValCom, Inc. (VLCO.PK) announced today that it is collaborating with Hip-Hop legend
Young MC to release a new version of one of The
Platters greatest hits.
The song will be released as a single and will capitalize on Young MC's talents as a lyricist and musician to produce a "fresh and funky" interpretation of the hit song. The single will be produced by music industry veteran Joel Wertman, who is credited with marketing multiple music artists including No Doubt, The Goo Goo Dolls, and Bush.
"We're thrilled to be working with a respected musical talent like Young MC," stated Vince Vellardita, President and CEO of ValCom. "This is a key piece in our business plan to expand revenue streams, monetize our library, and increase shareholder value."
ValCom has already released a rare single by Ike and
Tina Turner on iTunes. The goal for the company is to release 50 songs on iTunes and 2 albums by the end of the year utilizing content from the company's library.
Marvin Young (aka Young MC) is best known for his platinum certified hit "Bust a Move" (which sold over 1 million units). He began rapping at the age of 10 and continued honing his skills until he was signed to Delicious Vinyl in 1987 during his junior year of college. While completing his last 2 years at USC,
Young MC helped write "Wild Thing" and "Funky Cold Medina" for Tone Loc. Wild Thing would sell nearly 4 million copies and Funky Cold
