Shari Puorto's New Album 'Real' Is Released!
Los Angeles, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Shari Puorto Official Website) Shari Puorto's awaited third CD entitled, 'Real' is finally here. This CD is considerably different than her last CD, 'Down the Road', as it's more traditional to the blues...however, with Shari's twist on it.

Shari is a well rounded artist as she not only sings the Blues from her soul but she can also overwhelm us with her warm, gentle, and passionate vocal expressions that allow her to also sing Pop and Americana style songs. This is where Barry Goldberg comes in. As we all know, Barry Goldberg was brought up with Chicago blues in his blood. He not only performs, writes and produces Blues, Blues Rock type songs, but he is a prolific and accomplished producer and songwriter for all styles of music, ('Spotlight' Rod Stewart, 'Imagination' Gladys Knight among others). This is one HOT duo. Their combined experiences and musical talent is one to watch (I mean, Listen)!

This CD is called, 'Real' because this is how Shari feels music should not only be performed, expressed and recorded, but most importantly, Felt; from the lyrics, to the music, to the musicianship. She says, "While you listen to this CD, I hope you go on a ride and feel something old, something new, as I stay true to keeping the music's meaning and message: Direct, Open, Raw and Real."

The CD is 45 min of original content (except track 5). All songs are produced by Barry Goldberg & Shari Puorto (except tracks 11 & 12). Track 11 produced by, Robert Jake Jacobs and Track 12 produced by, Nicholas Kirgo.

Shari Puorto Bio:

Shari Puorto is 'a soulful singer with a sexy and raspy sound. Her live performances immediately brings Janis Joplin to mind. Like Joplin, Puorto is a passionate performer with an energy that can rattle the foam in a pint of Pilsner.' Kevin, Pubclub.com

You would think Shari's been doing this forever. She has the sensibility of an old soul reborn and is undeniably passionate. She is a powerful and dynamic live performer who quickly and quite naturally connects with her audience. (She's likely to steal your heart if you get too close!) Her intensity and warm nature shines through her singing and performances. Exec. Producer Ken Andrews SBMA*, 'Shari's amazing vocal strength and soulful delivery combined with her high energy live performance is a combination that makes her one of today's hottest performers."

Jim Santella, Southland Blues Magazine writes, 'She's all about passion and communication.' Music Connection writes, "She exhibits sweet vocal tones and is never off key -she can sing!"

Among many accolades, in November 2010, Shari was awarded song of the year for her song 'Free', in the "Americana, Blues, Roots" category at the Los Angeles Music Awards. in 2006, Shari was awarded 'Best Female Vocalist' at the South Bay Music Awards.

To really understand how she focuses on her blues-rock roots is if you combine Melissa Ethridge, Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, and the soul of Janis Joplin.

Not only will her live performance blow you away but her recordings will too. 'Puorto belts 'em out forcefully', Santella writes. You can catch this raw talent on her debut album, 'Why is the Grass Always Greener?' 'Packed with first-class energy and plenty of emotion', Santella writes.

Shari's recent work (in addition to performing with her band, 'The Shari Puorto Band or Experience'), is co-writing, performing and currently in the studio with legendary producer/writer/musician, Barry Goldberg (Electric Flag, Michael Bloomfield). Some of their work can be found on Shari's recent release (Aug 2011), Real.

Shari's second CD was released in Feb 08 entitled, 'Down the Road'. Shari's debut CD is entitled, 'Why is the Grass Always Greener?'

Shari has been performing to sold out venues attracting local and national attention by opening and gracing the stage with such performers as, Robben Ford, Dickey Betts, Larry Carlton, Johnny Winter, Barry Goldberg, Dave Mason, Robin Trower, Joe Bonmassa, Coco Montoya, Michael Burks, Ike Turner Review, Eric Sardinas, Lee Rocker, Tower of Power, Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers, and Billy Vera & the Beaters. The list keeps growing.

Barry Goldberg Bio:

"Born and raised in Chicago, born and raised to play the blues": A slogan songwriter, producer, composer Barry Goldberg carries with him to this day. Barry has written, produced and performed virtually every style and genre of music with great success for all audiences. Along the way, he has worked with and helped develop the careers of such rock and roll and blues legends as Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Neil Young, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Bonnie Raitt and Bo Didley.

Early in his musical career, Barry played with Dylan when he first went electric at the legendary Newport Folk Festival. Soon after, Barry formed the Goldberg/Miller Blues Band with guitarist Steve Miller and released a self-titled album on Epic Records. Barry continued to work as a session musician and producer in New York, performing on such Number One hits as Mitch Ryder's "Devil With A Blue Dress" and playing with Jimi Hendrix, as Jimi James & the Blue Flames, at the famous Cafe Au GoGo. Barry moved forward and westward when he co-founded The Electric Flag with guitarist Michael Bloomfield. The Electric Flag released two albums on Columbia Records and performed at the Monterey Pop Festival during the Summer of Love.

Barry later enlisted guitarist Harvey Mandel and drummer "Fast" Eddie Hoh (of Super Session fame) and formed The Barry Goldberg Reunion at the height of the psychedelic "San Francisco Sound". The Barry Goldberg Reunion spawned two albums, a self-titled debut and "Blowin' My Mind", which have since received critical acclaim. Billboard Magazine's Gene Sculatti called them "A lost gem, one of the real sleepers of the psychedelic pop era."

Barry has had an extensive career writing and composing music for film and television. He has supervised and written music that has appeared in over twenty feature films including the blockbuster hits "Forrest Gump" and "Dirty Dancing". The song Barry and renown lyricist Gerry Goffin penned for "Forrest Gump", entitled "I've Got To Use My Imagination", became a Number One single for Gladys Knight and the Pips. His other film credits include "Adventures In Babysitting", "Feds", and "Fast Times At Ridgemont High".

His Native American musical influences earned him critical acclaim for his score to "Pow Wow Highway". He has scored music and written theme songs for many television shows, including "Murphy Brown" and "Silver Spoons". Barry recently won the BMI Pioneer Award for excellence and his great body of work for music for film and television. His most recent T.V. accomplishment was featured performer and music supervisor for the Muddy Waters Tribute Concert at The Kennedy Center on PBS.

Barry's skill as a record producer has given him the opportunity to work with a diversity of musical acts from Bob Dylan to the Lemonheads to Percy Sledge. The Percy Sledge album was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1996 for Best Blues Album of the Year and won the W.C. Handy Award in 1996 for Best Soul Album of the Year. Barry has produced the debut Universal/France album for 13 year old guitar prodigy Nawfel Hermi, Percy Sledge's 2004 "Shining Through The Rain" CD(Varese Sarabande), and has scored and supervised season one of the Sony Pictures TV/Showtime Television Series "Street Time".

Along with Nick Gravenites, Harvey Mandel, Tracy Nelson, Corky Siegel and Sam Lay Barry's CD/DVD "Buried Alive In The Blues" debuted at #2 on the Billboard Blues Chart, received a 4 Star Review by David Fricke in Rolling Stone and was the #1 CD Of The Year in The Chicago Sun Times.
