His oldest son, Bashir, was diagnosed with the illness when he was around four years old and Bilal has been very active in the movement to raise awareness.

ABOUT BILAL

Bilal is a member of the Soulquarians collective, along with Common, Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Ahmir Questlove Thompson, Q Tip, and DAngelo.

ABOUT PENNJAMIN BANNEKAR
Heralded as Hip Hops freshest emcee, Pennjamin Bannekar sets himself above the fray with his intense and heartfelt stories of life. Some choose to describe his music as poetry set to a sound track and others just embrace the artistry. Once again Chicago native, Pennjamin Bannekar gives us a peak into his life with his album release HeartBeat. Pennjamins new single Illwrite can be seen on a myriad of video channels including MTV.

ABOUT R.O.E
R.O.E. (Rising Over Envy) got his name because that is what he plans to do, rise above the envious. Born and bred on the westside of Chicago, R.O.E. was influenced by soul music, 90's hip hop, and poetry, which helped him hone his sound. During that time, he built an amazing buzz for himself through the new wave of music blogs/sites by releasing countless singles and freestyles that received rave reviews. In 2010, R.O.E. was also featured in the Chicago Red Eye and was later invited in 2011 by the Chicago Tribune to perform at the Chicago Theatre for their show, Chicago Live. After building such a unique following, R.O.E. released his debut EP entitled, A Backpacker Named R.O.E. which served as an introduction to new fans and a gentle reminder to the old. His lead single, I Won, received heavy play on many independent and college radio stations. Since then, R.O.E. has performed at countless venues and events across the country with his band, The Soulvillians.
