Jimi Hendrix - Winterland
Widely considered the best electric guitarist in history,
Jimi Hendrix was one of the most influential and legendary musicians of the 1960's. Establishing success in
Europe with his band, The
Jimi Hendrix Experience, Hendrix achieved fame in the U.S. upon his performance at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. A remarkably short two years later, he headlined the iconic Woodstock Festival in New York. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame posthumously in 1992, Hendrix was ranked #1 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time in 2003. Famous for his smash albums Are You Experienced and Electric Ladyland, and for the epic single "Purple Haze," Hendirx was also overwhelmingly celebrated for his instrumental virtuosity during his live performances. This month, Legacy Recordings is set to release Winterland, a collection of Hendrix's performances at San Francisco's Winterland in October of 1968. At Winterland, Hendrix played six sold-out shows over three nights, and this collection is the first official presentation of those legendary performances. Starting
September 13, 2011, TouchTunes will promote the single CD version of Winterland, a set of live and unreleased highlights from all six shows, across digital jukeboxes and TouchTunesTV screens for two weeks.
