Oct 14th Skudge Falko Brocksieper Conforce
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Blkmarket Membership) Save the date for Friday 14th October as you do not want to miss this one. Blkmarket Membership kicks off the fall season with a very special lineup. We bring you Skudge live (US exclusive debut) / Falko Brocksieper live / Conforce live / Taimur & Fahad / Momus.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are proud to announce the exclusive U.S debut of Skudge. In a short span of 2 years, this duo has made quite a name for themselves in the industry since their arrival in 2009. These guys are without a doubt, one of the best new acts out there. Using all analog machines for their live performance, Skudge delivers their signature tough tech-house sound that is made for the big room. Their label Skudge Records launched in 2010 and since then, the duo has been firing out productions on their own imprint as well as a slew of productions & remixes on labels such as Alphahouse, Naked Lunch, Fear of Flying, International Feel, Echocord Colour, Tamed Musiq, Stockholm LTD and Karat. March 2011 saw the release of their highly praised album Phantom. Take it from us, this performance is a MUST SEE. Stay tuned for an upcoming interview with the duo. New York, prepare to get Skudgeeeed!

Falko Brocksieper has been a favorite of ours for quite some time. Since hearing his 'Other Planets' e.p in 2002, we have followed his music ever since. He has had numerous releases on labels such as Treibstoff, Tuning Spork, Resopal, Dumb Unit, Tongut and the list goes on. His unique sound as a producer led him to become a high in demand remixer. Combining his hypnotic minimal sound hand in hand with an edgy analog sound, Falko has produced remixes for Basteroid, Akufen, Gabriel Ananda, Dirt Crew, Sid LeRock, Benjamin Fehr just to name a few. Falko also runs Sub Static (founded in 2000) and Karloff Rekordings (founded in 2003 which focused on more experimental approaches to techno and house). Since his 2nd album 'Heavy Day' released in 2008, Falko has showcased his first ever live sets which he continues to perform together with over 10 years experience as an international DJ. We are excited to have Falko play at our event for the first time. He will be performing LIVE.

The dub-techno sounds of Conforce practically never seem to leave our record bags. He has previously released records on labels such Rush Hour, Modelisme, Curle Recordings and Delsin. Conforce broke through strong into the scene with his stellar debut album, Machine Conspiracy on Meanwhile and has become an artist to watch since then. Conforce's new forthcoming full length album is about to drop on Delsin Records any moment now and we are very excited to have him play for us around the time of his album release. Stay tuned for an exclusive interview with Conforce. Get ready for Conforce Live!

Momus aka Amaury Meunier knows quite a lot about music and is a Blkmarket regular. After hearing him at an early morning house party we thought it was a good time to finally invite him to play and have his turn on the decks at our party. Momus will be opening up for the night, debuting at Blkmarket.

Residents Taimur & Fahad complete the lineup.

Skudge
Although not as anonymous as they were in late 2009 when their first releases began to appear, Skudge still aim to keep a low profile. They like to let their music - and the connoisseur fans of it from Berghain DJs to Resident Advisor critics - do the talking. So far it's been released on their own vinyl label, Skudge Records, and speaks of an appreciation of analogue, an understanding of rhythm and a passion for economical house and techno.

The duality of their music is what marks them out: it's built on simple, solid loops but is alive with a devilish attention to detail. Rather than breaking any given rules, they instead re-interpret those with which we are all familiar into something new and engaging that fits nicely onto the shelves of tastemaker record stores like Hardwax.

The Swedish pair initially met through a cousin, swapped mail addresses and a few tracks before agreeing that they shared a common taste in electronic music. Fast forward to now, and following the release of a string of well received singles and EPs (including 'Convolution' which turned out to be an underground hit) the pair has been remixed by the likes of Marcel Fengler, Aardvarck and 2562. Outside of the studio, too, they have impressed, taking their live show to a number of clubs and festivals (including Fabric, Berghain, Trouw and more) across Europe.

April 2011, though, marks their biggest step to date - the release of a debut full length, Phantom. It's an album of bold, dancefloor optimised forms that deal in dusty warehouse vibes and cavernous chambers of grainy sounds. Often there are traces of trippy sonic colour; firm and infectious grooves or cloaks of filter, echo and reverb, but always is it imbued with exactly the richness you'd expect of analogue produced sounds.

With support pouring in from peers and punters alike, Skudge are a duo only likely to attract more and more attention once their Phantom is out in the open: though they wouldn't have it that way, the music is just too good to ignore.

Conforce

Conforce is a restless producer from Terschelling, Holland, who strives only to combine digital and analogue together into atmospheric, well designed pieces of music, be they of house, techno or dub descent. With such an honest mission, it's no wonder the man known as Boris Bunnik has had continued success recently, with a number of singles, EPs and albums coming on respected imprints like Delsin, Clone, Meanwhile and Rush Hour. As a live performer, too, he is garnering ever more support with gigs everywhere from New York to Tokyo helping to establish him as one of contemporary techno's finest craftsmen.

Since initially being turned on to acid and rave thanks to a tape his father found in an old abandoned house, Conforce has been keen to go his own way. Despite being influenced back then by the likes of GERD, Dave Angel and Luke Slater (whose records he often spun); early Dutch rave and techno and, more recently, by peers and friends including producers and DJs from the northern Dutch techno scene, his music simply represents a feeling inside of him, rather than any particular artist, scene or genre.

''I don't tend to think in styles. Good music explains itself. I just go with the flow and see where the musical elements lead me, so I'm very versatile: for me, music is just pure self expression so I naturally reinvent myself with every track I create. I can't do the same trick twice... I can make techno, deep stuff, dub, ambient, house, whatever.'' Proof of that sonic dexterity comes from the fact that Bunnik also records as Versalife - a moniker under which he explores more abstract, experimental and transparent electro for Clone West Coast Series.

Of course, a Conforce live set is also a very personal expression - one which manages to find a balance between techno depth and dancefloor accessibility. Although not afraid of technology and machines, the human element is an all important aspect to the Dutchman's music: deep, pulsating, atmospheric, floating... the list of superlatives goes on (and those are just the ones tastemaker store Hardwax deployed when surmising his most recent album). Pin him down at your peril, though, for whatever you think you can attribute to the man's music, it's likely the artist himself has moved onto a whole other realm entirely.

''People ask how I create certain tracks... well, they just come out or they don't. Each one records just a small phase of my life. The next time I write it could be a totally different feel or vibe.'' Whatever the vibe, though, with credentials as assured as they are, wherever Conforce decides to go, it will always be worth following.

Conforce (live)- Drift Festival PODCAST

Falko Brocksieper

Falko Brocksieper first encountered electronic music in 1993 when attending numerous raves and clubs, and soon after he began acquiring his own skills as a DJ. The european rave-techno of the time was the initial counterpoint, after-which he discovered artists from Detroit, Chicago and the Midwest, such as Robert Hood, Woody McBride, Daniel Bell and Jeff Mills.

In 1997 he moved from his hometown to Cologne, where he gained further influences from the citys vibrant minimal-techno and electronica scene.

As he had already acquired experience with sequencing programs as a child on the Amiga 500, in 1999, during his studies at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne and amidst various activities in media design, video art and installation, he decided to focus on electronic music production.

Falko Brocksiepers first vinyl record was released in 2001 on Sub Static label, which he founded in cooperation with Mia Grobelny at that time. Further releases quickly followed on labels such as Treibstoff, Tuning Spork, Resopal, Dumb Unit and Tongut. In 2003 he put out his first album Hoax Deluxe, refining his style between hypnotic minimalism and an edgy analog sound. With his unique sound, he became high in demand as a remixer and produced remixes for Akufen, Basteroid, Gabriel Ananda, Dirt Crew, Sid LeRock, Dapayk & Padberg, Benjamin Fehr and many more.

In 2003 he founded his second label, Karloff Rekordings, with the intention of providing a seperate playground for more experimental musical approaches to techno and house. With over 100 releases altogether so far, Sub Static and Karloff have become renowned brands in electronic music today.
Falko Brocksieper moved to Berlin in 2004, in order to infuse fresh energy in his music production and record labels and he released his second album Heavy Day in 2008.
With the release of Heavy Day, Brocksieper used the album tour as an opportunity to bring about his first ever live sets which he continues to perform together with over 10 years experience as an international DJ.
