Texas Tenors are back in Branson for a limited number of dates between now and mid-November with a show filled with songs and stories for dreamers of every stripe.
"Our story is truly about following your dreams," says Marcus Collins."When we got together as a group we had no idea what was going to happen to us. We wanted to do what we love to do and support our families. Somewhere along the way our dreams began to come true and we want to encourage everyone to follow their dreams."
It was just two years ago that Collins joined forces with JC
Fisher and John Hagen to try out for "America's Got Talent." The trio had performed together only a couple of times before the audition. But with bills to pay and nothing to lose, the three friends, whose musical tastes spanned country, contemporary, and classical opera, tried out for the televised talent show.
The result? Thanks to three judges and 100 million viewers, The
Texas Tenors became the highest ranking vocal group in the history of the show.
Since then, The
Texas Tenors have crisscrossed the globe, appearing with such prestigious institutions as the
Houston Symphony, the Van Cliburn and Autry Foundations, The Royal Theatre of Scotland, MGM Grand Foxwoods, the Professional Bull Riders World Championships, and Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas.
While performing at sea, the singers met a 92-year-old woman who was on her honeymoon.
"She came to our show one night," recalls JC Fisher. "She wanted to have coffee with me at seven o'clock the next morning."
He did. It turns out the woman wanted to tell the JC about her son, who writes music. Ever the gentleman,
Fisher agreed to call her son, who lived in Nashville and indeed wrote songs—for people like
Reba McEntire and Rascal Flatts.
The songwriter, Phillip White, provided The
Texas Tenors with their new original song, "What Am I Gonna
Dream About," which poses the question asked by someone whose dreams have come true.
It's a fitting song for The
Texas Tenors, who combine such gratifying and inspirational songs with hand-clapping country tunes, patriotic anthems, Broadway ballads, and Italian opera.
Sounds complicated? It's not. Even the operatic pieces arranged by newlywed tenor John Hagen, are presented in an accessible and down to earth way.
The unexpected mix of melodies is like a colorful kaleidoscope for the ears and the soul. So too are the stories the performers tell between songs, which are funny, tender, and sweet, especially the story they tell of an Atlanta mom who sent The
Texas Tenors a song she'd written called "You Should Dream."
That song inspired the group so much they made it the title of their upcoming sophomore album, which is being produced by music industry heavyweight Nigel Wright. Currently partners with
Andrew Lloyd Webber and "go to" musical director for
Simon Cowell, Wright is responsible for hit recordings by Barbra Streisand, Jose Carreras,
Madonna and others. The album has become a truly international project featuring the 65-piece Prague Symphony, rhythm tracks recorded in Nashville, TN, vocals by the tenors in Los Angeles, CA and final production in London, UK.

Texas Tenors original album, now digitally remastered and featuring new selections is currently available now through the group's website, itunes and amazon. com. The new album 'You Should Dream' is due out this winter.
