New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ SoundHound Official Website) Announcing its usage metrics for the very first time, SoundHound, Inc., the revolutionary sound search company, today reported strong momentum in 2011 including over 4 million music searches per day, and extremely robust user engagement reaching more than 1,000 hits per second. SoundHound also announced that, after just two years, its total user base is 50 million worldwide on iOS and Android alone. Taken together, the milestones solidify SoundHound as the No.1 most used mobile music search and discovery application.
SoundHound has experienced massive growth in user engagement due to its numerous compelling features such as LiveLyrics™, song and artist recommendation and sharing capabilities, which saw further enhancements earlier this month with the release of SoundHound version 4.1. In the 30-day period ending Oct. 20, 2011, SoundHound servers registered 25 million to 35 million hits per day—with peak traffic at over 2 million hits per hour and 1,000 hits per second. The new metrics in 2011 represent a tenfold increase in usage since 2010.
"This first peek at our usage metrics reveals some impressive numbers, but the story behind the numbers is just as big a deal," said Keyvan Mohajer, CEO of SoundHound, Inc. "Our user experience is clearly so compelling and delightful that our users just can't get enough of it. The fact that they keep coming back in such numbers speaks volumes about the value of the new features we have added."
Announced last week, SoundHound 4.1 includes integration with Apple's iCloud service, giving users automatic, wireless syncing of music identification and search history across all their iOS 5.0 devices. It also offers enhanced LiveLyrics™ with full-screen display of lyrics that move in time with the music, as well as new in-app settings, sharing options, and Facebook and Twitter badges that make it simple to follow artists.
In May, SoundHound debuted its world-class voice recognition technology, built in-house and brought to market as Hound, a stand-alone voice search app for music that lets users speak the title of a song or name of an artist to instantly get access to songs for download, lyrics, tour dates or play songs instantly through iPod integration on iOS devices. SoundHound's technologies include the world's fastest music recognition and sing/hum recognition as showcased in SoundHound, as well as fast, accurate and delightful voice search as seen in Hound.
