New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Girlie Action Media & Marketing) New York City's
Jessica 6 has been commanding dance floors for years, globetrotting from London to Miami, San Francisco to Santiago, Bergen to Belgrade, seducing the dancing, sweaty masses with an electrifying blend of disco, soul and R&B. They released their debut album, See The Light (Peacefrog) earlier this year and dance floors haven't been the same since! Interview magazine just premiered thevideo for "Prisoner of Love" featuring Antony. The video was styled by Mugler and
Lady Gaga creative director Nicola Formichetti. The band is also hitting the road for a tour with DFA's Holy Ghost! this week.
"The outstanding debut album from this Brooklyn throwback act recalls a time
when the city shone with glitter and cocaine."- Blackbook
"…pop music with a disco feel and a real soulful vibe as well. We love it!"
- PerezHilton
Comprised of former members of Hercules and Love Affair,
Jessica 6 is fronted by the beguiling and beautiful chanteuse Nomi Ruiz. Equal parts high-fashion and street smart, Nomi's smoky, vocals and sultry lyrics create a world full of enraptured lovers, endless nights, fame-seekers, and broken hearts. Along with bassist Andrew Raposo and keyboardist
Morgan Wiley, the band creates a raw portrait of life in the city.
See The Light opens with a classic-in-waiting, the behemoth of a single, "
White Horse", that forces you to move like a witch doctor would. "Champagne Bubbles" is the kind of gritty R&B that isn't afraid to be as angry as it is melancholic, its piano flourishes punctuated with a heavy kick and snare. "Prisoner Of Love," which bridges electro and freestyle, featuring a soaring vocal melody that finds Nomi and guest vocalist Antony weaving their voices around each other to a stunning effect.
