TORONTO, CANADA (Top40 Charts/ ole Official Website) ole celebrated CMA Week with the company's third number one country single this year - the Eli Young Band's "
Crazy Girl" - along with BMI and SESAC awards for the radio and chart success of writers Marty Dodson, Monty Powell, Liz Rose and Jimmy Yeary.
"Crazy Girl," co-written by ole legacy writer Liz Rose and Lee Brice, recently reached the pinnacle of both the Billboard and Mediabase country charts. It follows ole's number one country success with Rascal Flatts' "Why Wait" (Jimmy Yeary) and Billy Currington's "Let Me Down Easy" (Marty Dodson).
"Crazy Girl," which previously hit number one on the iTunes country countdown, is actually ole's fourth chart-topper this year. The Pixie Lott single, "All About Tonight," co-written by ole writer Tebey, peaked at number one in the U.K. in September.
BMI COUNTRY AWARDS
At the 59th annual BMI Country Awards, held during CMA Week at BMI's Nashville offices in the heart of Music Row, three ole song were honored as the past year's most-performed country songs on U.S. radio and television: "Fearless" (Liz Rose, Taylor Swift); "Why Wait" (Jimmy Yeary, Tom Shapiro) and "Let Me Down Easy" (Marty Dodson, Jennifer Hanson, Mark Nesler).
"Let Me Down Easy," which is nominated for Single of the Year at the upcoming ACA Awards to be held in Las Vegas on December 5, was the third number one for Dodson and his second with Billy Currington. The first Currington collaboration produced "Must Be Doin' Somethin' Right," a co-write with Jason Matthews. Kenny Chesney (with The Wailers) took "Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven," the Dodson/Jim Collins co-write, to the top of the country charts in the fall of 2008.
Liz Rose's BMI Country Award this year is the continuation of a successful run with ole. At last year's BMI Awards, ole picked up an award for "White Horse," co-written by Rose and the song's performer, Taylor Swift. In 2009, the song earned ole its first Grammy Award for Best Country Song and recognition from SESAC for its status as the Number One Most Performed Song.
SESAC NASHVILLE MUSIC AWARDS
SESAC's annual Nashville Music Awards presentations, held this year at the impressive Pinnacle at Symphony Place in downtown Nashville, saw ole writer Monty Powell continue his award-winning ways as he picked up a Country Performance Activity Award for the Keith Urban hit song "Til Summer Comes Around."
For Powell, who was named Songwriter of the Year and took Song of the Year honors at the SESAC Awards in 2009 for another Keith Urban co-write, "Sweet Thing," this continues a very successful writing collaboration with Urban. Last year the duo picked up SESAC awards for three Keith Urban songs including "Til Summer Comes Around," "Sweet Thing" and "Kiss A Girl." That trio of hits was also the recipient of the CMA's prestigious Triple Play Award, which honors songwriters who pen three chart-topping hits in a 12-month period.
Among other things, Powell has two co-writes - "Stars Tonight" and "If I Knew Then" - on Lady Antebellum's triple-platinum CD, Need You Now and two on their current platinum album, Own the Night, including "As You Turn Away" and "Somewhere Love Remains," both co-written with the reigning CMA and ACM Vocal Group of the Year.
