Westlife Critical Of Lack Of Originality In Pop Music Scene
DUBLIN, IRELAND (Top40 Charts/ Muzu TV) In an exclusive interview following the recent shooting of the video for their new single Lighthouse on
the music video website MUZU.TV, Westlife's band members, Kian and Mark state what's wrong with
the music of today.

Highlighting the lack of originality in the current music scene, Kian explains that music has become 'too
cool' and 'samey' with everyone diluting what they are doing rather than in the 80s, 90s and 00s when
there were distinct types of music including big power ballads and great rock bands.
In further comments, Mark announces that they believe that the market is being 'flooded by too
many similar songs with the same 'beat'. The band believes that there is "definitely a gap for a big
mainstream pop act; ….with Lady Gaga and Rihanna being more edgy."

Revealing a supportive stance towards talented singer/songwriters who are currently breaking
onto the music market, Kian and Mark make a special mention of Ed Sheeran and Lana Del Ray,
whose "talents will always shine through." While Mark does not think that 'anyone from this year's X
Factor will change the face of music'.

Ciaran Bollard, CEO and co-founder of MUZU.TV said: "Westlife has been at the top of the industry
for 14 years and is one of a handful of boy bands that have lasted the test of time. In Kian's words they
stuck to what they knew they were good at instead of being a band that follows other peoples' trends.
It is refreshing to hear some clear and honest opinions on where they think music is now and where it
needs to go in the future. The boys have also been fantastic for promoting Irish music and they will be
sorely missed."

Westlife will be touring the UK in 2012 with a final gig in Croke Park, Dublin, and the video for their new
single Lighthouse is already available on MUZU.TV. The interview can be found at the following link:
