The
Dasha D Foundation honors the memory of 36 year old
Dasha D Blaylock , an African American woman who died in unexplained circumstances in a Houston,
Texas emergency room at about 8.30 pm on June 9 2009. 37 weeks pregnant and not in labor, after she died her baby was delivered unconscious - only to die 6 days later.
Dasha died a year before completing her nursing degree. She left behind two young children.
The
Dasha D Blaylock Foundation is a Prenatal & Memorial Counseling Service. The Foundation exists to bring national attention to the alarming number of deaths of pregnant women in the United States and to address the issues causing a disproportionate number of African American women who die while in prenatal or perinatal care.
