Girl In A Coma Announce New Dates, Make NPR's Top 50 Albums Of 2011
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Girlie Action Media & Marketing) Girl In A Coma's stellar album Exits & All the Rest has been named one of NPR's 50 Favorite Albums of 2011. The album was released by Blackheart Records last month and received rave reviews from CNN, AOL, Rolling Stone, LA Weekly and more. The band has been playing to rapturous audiences across the country and just finished a series of packed shows up and down the California coast. They have just announced new tour dates including dates opening for The Features and a co-headlining show in Dallas with them.

"an undeniable breakout that's likely to turn this little-known truth into a well-established fact: Nina Diaz is one of the two or three most exciting, scary-good vocalists in rock today."
- NPR

The band recently released a video for lead single "Smart" that evokes their favorite classic alternative videos. The video features the mix of the track produced by Nick Launay (Arcade Fire, Yeah Yeah Yeahs). Watch the video for the anthemic single here.

"Smart" showcases GIAC's own special recipe for a melodic pop song which they recently performed on Last Call with Carson Daly. " "One Eyed Fool" is a fearless and bare declaration of the universal need to be loved. "Hope" is a pogo ready punk assault that speaks to the Arizona immigration dispute while daring you to stay still. Album opener"Adjust" is a tale of persecution and a sonic minefield. Nina Diaz's voice turns from a lament to a growl in a split second while the thundering combination of Phanie Diaz's drums and Jennifer Alva's bass rattle your ribcage. "Cemetery Baby" underscores the bands ability to seduce you with melody no matter how tragic the message. The stomping rhythm of future GIAC anthem "Control" lays a foundation for Nina's voice to build empires of heartbreak on. The stamp San Antonio has left on the band is all over the album and its stabs of punk, tejano, rockabilly, classic rock and roll, rancheras, and indie rock all contributing to a sound that can only be described as Girl in a Coma.
