New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The
Texas Heritage Songwriters Association (TxHSA) will hold its 7th Annual Hall of Fame Awards Show on March 4th, 2012 at Austin City Limits Live at Moody Theater in downtown Austin, Texas. A limited number of tickets are available to the public, and sales begin online at 5 p.m. today. Each year TxHSA brings together exceptional
Texas songwriters for an intimate performance and awards ceremony. During the ceremony, musicians who represent the spirit of
Texas are inducted into the TxHSA Hall of Fame. This year's honorees include music legends Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keen and the late Townes Van Zandt.
"Getting to stand on that stage and join such a great group of
Texas songwriters and musicians is a real privilege"
"I'm proud to be a Texan and honored to be inducted into the Hall of Fame," says Keen. "And to be included with Lyle, a friend since we were kids, makes it an even greater honor."
"Getting to stand on that stage and join such a great group of
Texas songwriters and musicians is a real privilege," adds Lovett. "I'm looking forward to an evening of great entertainment and talent while celebrating our
Texas heritage."
As an ongoing supporter of the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM), TxHSA is donating five dollars of every ticket sold directly to the organization, which provides access to affordable health care for Austin's low income, uninsured musicians. One of the event's largest corporate sponsors, Walmart, has also designated a portion of their sponsorship contribution to HAAM.
Honorees Lovett and Keen will perform at the show, along with a star-studded lineup of
Texas artists on hand to pay tribute to Van Zandt. Van Zandt's son, J.T. Van Zandt, will also attend the ceremony to accept his father's award.
"Having
Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen honored and performing this year means we're guaranteed an amazing show," says Joe Ables, Executive Producer of the show and owner of Saxon Pub, a renowned live music venue in Austin. "Plus, the roster of artists performing in Van Zandt's honor continues to grow with some of the biggest names in Texas, including the likes of Steve Earle."
The award show is part of the two-day Homecoming Weekend presented by TxHSA, which coincides with
Texas Independence Day each year as a way to celebrate Texas' rich culture and unique heritage. A private homecoming party on March 3rd at the Bob Bullock
Texas State History Museum with performances by Bob DiPiero, Jeffrey Steele and
David Lee Murphy will precede the March 4th Hall of Fame Awards Show.
"Our Homecoming Weekend is a special time each year that our former honorees return from wherever they are now living to help celebrate the current honorees," says TxHSA Founder and Chairman, Terry Boothe. "These individuals are vital to maintaining the rich
Texas heritage that is respected and envied around the world, and we choose to honor them in a way that others can also participate in."
Past honorees and performers include Willie Nelson, Guy Clark, Clint Black, Allen Shamblin, Gary Nicholson, Bruce Channel, Red Steagall, Lee Roy Parnell, Mac Davis, Larry Gatlin and Kris Kristofferson. Many of these past honorees will attend and perform at this year's celebration.
The Darrell K Royal Patron Award, given to those who have provided enduring recognition and support to songwriters, will be presented to
Danny King during the ceremony. King has worked tirelessly to preserve the songwriter culture and ensure a permanent place in history for
Texas songwriters.
In addition to Walmart, TxHSA has secured sponsorships with Jim Beam, Osborne Advisors,
Texas Monthly, KVET, Collings Guitars, ALCOA, Fosforus, The Testa Rossa Ranch, BMI, The Salt Lick, International Bankers Association of Texas, 1st
State Bank of Gainesville, Treaty Oak Homes, Birmingham Fasteners, BMW of Austin and many others, including numerous generous individuals who continue to support the preservation of
Texas heritage through personal donations. To learn more about becoming a TxHSA sponsor, contact Alyce Alston at

Founded in 2002 by 6th-generation Texan, Terry Boothe, the
Texas Heritage Songwriters Association (TxHSA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring and celebrating
Texas songwriters who have played an important role in defining and interpreting Texas' distinctive culture. Since 2006, TxHSA has been producing an annual public event, the
