Award Victory For Silent Movie The Artist Original Filmscore Performed By Brussels Jazz Orchestra And Brussels Philharmonic
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Brussels Jazz Orchestra Official Website) On January 15th the Golden Globes were awarded in Hollywood. The Artist by the French director Michel Hazanavicius won 3 Golden Globes for Best Comedy or Musical, Best Actor in a Musical and Best Original Score. The award for the music is in part a Belgian triumph: composer Ludovic Bource insisted on working with Belgian orchestra's to record his music. The Brussels Jazz orchestra will perform live (with Kenny Werner) in New York coming March.

The Artist is a silent movie, in which the music play a major part. Although the film was recorded in Los Angeles, the soundtrack is a Belgian product: Brussels Philharmonic and Brussels Jazz Orchestra perform the magnificent filmscore by Ludovic Bource. In april 2011 the composer came to Belgium to record his music. Both orchestra's have a solid reputation in interpreting and performing filmscores. The European film industry is traditionally very keen on working with Belgian musicians, who have a reputation of being hard working and very talented professionals. Brussels Jazz Orchestra is very proud to participate in the success of The Artist and hopes that other film projects will follow.

The Golden Globe presents a unique chance for the Brussels Jazz Orchestra to introduce its name and fame to the American media and film industry. Whoever wants to see the orchestra perform live, should come to New York at the end of March: Brussels Jazz Orchestra will play with US-pianist Kenny Werner at the Blue Note Jazz Club from March 27 til April 1.

More awards to follow?
On January 17th the nominees for the BAFTA's (British Academy of Film and Television Awards) were announced. The Artist leads with 12 nominations, including Best Film, Best Director and - again - Best Original Score. The award ceremony is to be held in London on February 12.

On Tuesday 24 January the nominations for the Academy Awards (Oscars) will be announced. Chances are that The Artist is again one of the favourites.
