First Songs From NBC's New Critically Acclaimed Musical Drama 'Smash' Now Available On Itunes
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Columbia Records) With the premiere of NBC's new critically acclaimed musical drama series "Smash," NBCUniversal Television Consumer Products and Columbia Records will make select songs from each episode available on the iTunes store https://www.iTunes.com/NBCSmash. Each week, episode recaps, photos, video and musical performance highlights, as well as games, songs and fan challenges from the new "Smash" episode, will be available at https://www.nbc.com/smash/.

Timed with the debut of "Smash," which begins on Monday, February 6 (10-11 p.m. ET), three songs have been made available on iTunes:

"Beautiful" - written by Linda Perry; performed by Katharine McPhee

"Let Me Be Your Star" - written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman; performed by Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty

"National Pastime" - written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman; performed by Megan Hilty

In the first episode of "Smash," which The Hollywood Reporter calls "…excellent, a bar-raiser for broadcast networks... ." and TV Guide calls "... the most faaabulous show... .," the hit-making Broadway writing team of Julia Houston (Debra Messing) and Tom Levitt (Christian Borle) unite with veteran producer Eileen Rand (Anjelica Huston) to create a new musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe. Seasoned chorus girl Ivy Lynn (Megan Hilty) and newcomer Karen Cartwright (Katharine McPhee) compete for the dream role of Marilyn. Jack Davenport, Raza Jaffrey, Brian d'Arcy James and Jaime Cepero also star.

"Smash" is a musical drama that celebrates the beauty and heartbreak of the Broadway theater as it follows a cross section of dreamers and schemers who all have one common desire - to be a "Smash." Evolving from an idea of executive producer and multiple Emmy and Oscar winner Steven Spielberg and created by executive producer/acclaimed playwright Theresa Rebeck, the series is also executive-produced by Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey, Craig Zadan, Neil Meron, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. "Smash" is a production of Universal Television in association with DreamWorks Television and Madwoman in the Attic.
