The Jazz Age event is the brain-child of Bootless Betties and actor/producer Paul Matthew Madden, who wanted to host a night that made people feel like they were walking into a real 1920s speakeasy bar. "Interest in 20s and 30s culture is really growing because of television shows like Boardwalk
Empire and movies like The Artist and the upcoming Great Gatsby remake," says
Stephanie Lewin-Lane, one of the three vocalists and manager of Bootless Betties. "'Wet' Willie's Juice Joint is a chance for people to dress up and experience what it was like to live during Prohibition, where the ban of alcohol distribution drove most of Americans to patronize illegal underground speakeasy bars."
Madden adds, "We've included everything- from an entrance password to a raid by G-men."
