THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (Baja Fresh Mexican Grill press release) - Baja Fresh Mexican Grill is announcing today its first ever in-store CD project produced by music legend Carlos Santana.

The new CD entitled, "Food For Thought," will be sold for a limited time exclusively at all 300 Baja Fresh Mexican Grill Restaurants nationwide beginning on July 13. The CD will sell for $8. The net proceeds of the Santana "Food For Thought" CD will be donated to the Milagro Foundation.
"We are great admirers of Carlos Santana as both a world class musician and as a great humanitarian," commented John Butcher, VP, Marketing, Baja Fresh. "His extraordinary efforts on behalf of children through Deborah and Carlos Santana's Milagro Foundation impressed and convinced us that we had to do something to support this worthwhile effort."

The 10-song CD features four new Santana songs; one never released Santana recording from his archives, one song recorded with and written by his son Salvador and four "artist picks" from Etta James, Buddy Guy, Indigenous and Cesaria Evora.

The cover artwork features a painting, Carlos selected, from his personal art collection. The artist is Jesus Angel Perez and the title of the painting is Alimento de los Recuerdos ("Food For Thought"). Baja Fresh has never sold a non-food item in their restaurants. They have partnered with Carlos to raise funds for his Milagro Foundation.
"We believe in a brighter future for the children of this planet," commented Carlos. "We must accelerate equality, justice, compassion, beauty, grace and excellence, kindness and gentleness in the here and now."

Founded in 1998, The Milagro Foundation has given more than $2 million to charities and agencies that support children and youth in areas of health, education and the arts. Milagro Foundation can be found on the web at https://www.milagrofoundation.org.

Carlos has successfully navigated the stormy waters of popular music for more than three decades with a unique balance of intelligence, passion, inspiration and honesty. He is a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; has sold more than 80 million records; performed to more than 100 million people; and, he was honored with more GRAMMYs in NARAS history for his landmark CD "Supernatural" which has now surpassed 25 million in sales.

Carlos Santana is more vital and relevant than ever. His work transcends cultural, genre and language barriers with diversity as powerful as its creator's magic guitar virtuosity.
On August 30 he is being honored by the Latin Recording Academy as their "Person of the Year" at a star-studded tribute dinner and concert at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles two days prior to the Fifth Annual Latin Grammy Awards on CBS. The honor recognizes Santana's professional, cultural and social accomplishments.
A portion of the proceeds of the event will benefit the MusiCares Foundation. For more
