NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Country Weekly Magazine) - The latest issue of Country Weekly, a country music magazine that is distributed to over 400,000 country fans nationwide, features the most unique tour bus in America. The bus, completely covered in camouflage, belongs to country artists Rhett Akins ("That Ain't My Truck," "Don't Get Me Started," "I Break for Brunettes"),
Chad Brock ("Ordinary Life," "Yes"),
David Kersh ("Goodnight Sweetheart," "If I Never Stop Loving You"), and Daryle Singletary ("Too Much Fun," "I Let Her Lie," "Amen Kind of Love"), and just like their unusual bus, they all plan on doing anything but fitting in to the traditional tour bracket.
In Country Weekly, Rhett tells readers why they decided to cover their bus in camouflage. "We thought it would be cool for the bus to combine what we do for a living with our favorite hobby," Rhett says. "Plus, it would stand out. Because everybody looks at a tour bus when you ride down the road. They say, 'I wonder who's in there. Is it George Strait? 50 Cent?' And people talk about it for a few seconds when they're going down the road. Now they're gonna have to look at it. It says who we are in plain letters."
The artists are currently on a nationwide tour together offering up individual hits, rowdy crowd favorites, and a special surprise for an 'anything goes' finale when the four artists take the stage together for a party honky tonk style! Please visit www.honkytonktailgateparty.com for a list of all tour dates and news associated with the tour.
Rhett Akins and Daryle Singletary launched the tour in February 2001 with original tour mate Jeff Carson as a way to stay on the road while offering a new show for fans. The tour continued in 2002 with Wade Hayes replacing Jeff Carson. In 2003, the tour grew with excitement when Jeff Carson returned and Chad Brock joined the tour.
Now, in 2004, the guys look forward to combining two of the founders – Rhett Akins and Daryle Singletary – with Chad Brock and first-timer David Kersh. At the Country Weekly photo shoot for this month's feature, staff were surprised when they learned how the tour was working out for the guys and how there were a few disagreements.
