New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Evan Russell Saffer Official Website) ERS comments on new EP tentatively scheduled for release summer 2012:
As touring slowed down over the holidays (as it has a tendency to do from time to time) I have written a collection of new songs. I've been fleshing them out in rehearsals with my band and on the road pretty soon after the release of Neon Gas. The core of my live set is almost exclusively off of Neon Gas, however, I've been throwing in a new tune here and there to road test. Some of the titles you may have heard on the road like Beautiful Stranger and Best In Me are part of a new EP that I'm recording. So far the drums are done. Diapers blasted out all the drums in a few hours.
Cody Darbe will once again be recording bass for me, we start this week. I decided an EP (a shorter album) was best because I want to churn out quality recordings more frequently and doing an entire album front to finish (the way I make albums is extensive) as an independent artist takes quite a long time. Neon Gas is only 8 songs and that took close to 2 years to make. Granted, that was my debut solo album so it took a little longer to find my sound (I'm in the final stages of releasing my book "Neon Chronicles: how I made this album" which is in an intimate journal/photobook on the making of Neon Gas). That said, the new EP will definitely take a step forward sonically. I'm co-writing with different people, playing with different people, and experimenting more with electronic sounds. I really like to collaborate and this time around I've found really cool people to work on this. You'll also be seeing some changes in my live lineup. If you haven't gotten tickets, come and see me March 8th at Gramercy Theatre in NYC with Filter.
