New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Music Mechanism) With the future of traditional record labels hanging in the balance, jazz musician, Brian Girley, uses cutting-edge technology to propel his music career with the online release of his debut album aptly entitled "
Faith".
"I just want to define a new path to make it easier for others," Girley says.
Girley teamed up with the online New York based digital music and marketing service Mechanism, to give his fans a sneak peak of his album with an online listening party.
"The listening party was a huge success, and the fans really appreciated it. I believe music is headed in a new direction and through music discovery musicians like Brian Girley will thrive. It also helps when these talented artists and creators have a platform in which to stand. That's what this is all about." says Mechanism executive director, Montique Willis.
The online listening party was hosted through Girley's Facebook page, and attracted over 500 listeners the first day. Listeners were able to hear the album before it was released publicly and post their praises and opinions for Girley to read.
"The music is so natural and moving, like free flowing expression," one fan said on the listening party comment board.
Girley describes his debut album "
Faith" as freedom music. He explains that it does not fit into one specific genre, it is jazz, hip-hop, funk, and free. Girley was inspired by not only life experiences, but by popular artists Sam Rivers,
Mos Def and Branford Marsalis.
"I believe in my music too much to put it in the hands of a major label," Girley says.
Girley's music is now available online on music services like iTunes, Spotify, Rdio, Amazon Mp3, eMusic and more through Mechanism's new Amplifi digital distribution platform to be opened worldwide in spring 2012.
Mechanism believes that through music all will be saved from the limited music system of old.
Digital music releases require faith in the both the new music industry and in the music it's self.
