NEW YORK (Curvation press release) - CURVATION, a line of intimate apparel created for curvaceous women, along with spokesperson Queen Latifah, hosted the first-ever CURVATION 2004 "Walk of Confidence" to benefit The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation and historic Governors Island. To mark the event, CURVATION contributed $15,000 to the foundation in honor of their campaign to re-open Lady Liberty - America's most symbolic woman.

CURVATION also made a $10,000 donation to Governors Island for the preservation of this new national monument in New York Harbor.
"By supporting the restoration of the nation's most beautiful woman, CURVATION and I hope to convey a message of empowerment and 'pass the torch' to future generations of women by instilling a sense of confidence and acceptance," said Queen Latifah.

Hundreds of women participated in the CURVATION "Walk of Confidence," which was created to inspire women to unite and celebrate their confidence, curves and caring at a fun, healthy event. The event took place earlier today on historic Governors Island, a New York landmark situated just off the shore of Battery Park in Lower Manhattan.
This highly anticipated event was among one of the first public events planned for Governors Island this summer, and provided these women with a unique opportunity to see and experience this hidden jewel of New York City, which has been inaccessible to most of the public for over 200 years.
"We were very excited to hold our event on Governors Island and give women the opportunity to come together and join Queen Latifah in a salute to America's leading lady - the Statue of Liberty - a symbol of strength and confidence to our nation," said Anne Jardine, Vice President and General Manager of CURVATION.

The "Walk of Confidence" comes on the heels of the brand's recent launch of the first-ever collection of sport bras designed specifically for the curvaceous woman. "Being a curvaceous woman, it's important for me to stay fit and healthy, and walking is the best way for me to do that as I can do it wherever I am, whatever I am doing," said Queen Latifah. "When I exercise, I like to feel comfortable and my CURVATION sport bra offers me the perfect balance of style and support."

The new sports bras include: the Side Shaper Sport, with an inner sling that provides invisible side shaping for better definition and support; the Back Support Sport, with a criss-cross back design for bilateral support that helps improve posture; as well as the Minimizer Sport which reduces bust size up to 1.5" for improved mobility and support. Each style was created to provide curvaceous women with the comfort and support they need to stay healthy and active.
